Your pet’s care doesn’t stop when they leave EVT. Before your pet goes home, our team will make sure you understand their treatment, medication and any care they need during their recovery.

We’ll provide you with clear discharge instructions and answer any questions you may have, so you feel confident caring for your pet at home.

Going Home

Before your pet leaves EVT, our team will talk you through their treatment and any care they need at home. You’ll be given clear discharge instructions, including details of any medication, feeding, exercise and rest requirements, as well as what to look out for during their recovery.
We’ll also explain any recommended follow-up care and make sure you feel confident about caring for your pet at home. If you’re unsure about anything, please ask, we’re always happy to help.

Follow-up Care

Where appropriate, we will communicate with your pet’s usual veterinary practice so they are aware of what happened during your pet’s emergency visit and can continue their care. If your pet requires further investigations, treatment or referral, we will discuss the options with you and explain what happens next.

If You’re Worried After Going Home

If your pet’s condition changes or you become concerned about their recovery, please follow the advice provided on your discharge instructions.
If you feel your pet is experiencing another emergency, contact EVT for advice or seek urgent veterinary attention.

Our Priority

Emergencies can be stressful for both pets and their families. Our aim is to make the transition from emergency treatment to home care as straightforward as possible, while ensuring you know what to expect and who to contact if you need further help.
We're here for your pet when they need us most and we want you to feel supported throughout their recovery.
