What Should I Do If My Pet Suddenly Becomes ill?

If your dog, cat, rabbit, guinea pig or other pet suddenly becomes unwell, it can be a frightening and stressful experience. The most important thing is to remain calm, stay with your pet and seek professional veterinary advice as soon as possible.

If you are concerned about your pet during normal working hours, contact your usual veterinary practice. They will be able to triage your pet over the phone, provide advice and arrange an appointment if required.

If your pet becomes unwell outside of normal working hours, contact your usual veterinary practice. Their out-of-hours telephone message will provide information about their emergency provider and how to contact them.
